In this episode, host Lucas Farrell chats with Sherelle Speed, also known as The Art Doll, a St. Louis-based surrealist painter. Sherelle's artistic journey began in 2015 following a traumatic experience that led her to create an alternative reality through her art. A self-taught artist, she draws inspiration from renowned painters like Basquiat and Picasso, incorporating their bold strokes and vibrant color palettes into her own unique style.
Known for her signature faceless portraits set against skeleton flower backgrounds, The Art Doll’s work invites viewers to see themselves in the art, while leaving space for the painting's personality to shine through. Sherelle has been featured in over 100 showcases, festivals, and galleries, and dreams of seeing her artwork in stores and movies. Join us as we explore her creative process and vision for the future.
